Symptoms
It actually doesn't matter what your symptoms are. What matters is whether or not you have subluxation. If you do, this is not only the right place for you, this is the only place for you! There is no other kind of doctor who knows how to correct subluxation.
It is not my job to stop symptoms, the symptoms are normal. You feel them because your brain is saying "Something is wrong." That's the way our bodies were created, you're supposed to know when something's wrong.
Few people understand that in this country, every time we have a symptom, we run to take a pill. We do it from when we are children, until they cover us with dirt.
This country swallows 80% of all the drugs in the world.
If drugs make you healthy we should be the healthiest country there is... but, we're #37. There are 36 countries that are healthier. None have more hospitals, more doctors, or any of that.
(Maybe pills aren't the best way to get healthy...)
I'm not trying to cover up your symptoms. What I'm trying to do is take pressure off your nerves, so that your brain can communicate with your nerves. Then your brain can get back to coordinating your cells all the time. That's my job.
As I work to get your body functioning better, your symptoms start to disappear, because the problems causing them are starting to be corrected. It's also my job to explain this to you.

Responsibility
Mine:
| 1. It is my responsibility to adjust you day by day, and day by day you get closer to being free of subluxation.
2. 'Doctor' means 'teacher,' and that's my job as well. If I'm not teaching you ways that you can improve your health and teaching you things to avoid that are bad for you health, I'm only doing half my job. I want to give your bodies the best chance possible. |
|
Yours:
| 1. You have to bring your spines here to get adjusted. I can't do my job unless you do this.
2. 90% of the people here are here because someone told them either "You need to go see a chiropractor," or "You need to go see Dr. McCarthy."
You can tell someone else that I'm: "...going to adjust your spine and make you healthier."
"...you don't go there for a bad back or pain in your spine, that's not what it's about."
"...the symptoms aren't whats important... subluxation is."
"...subluxation is a misalignment of the spine."
|
|
How do you know if you have subluxation? We do an exam and take x-rays to find misalignments in the spine.
(When referred by another patient, the cost of this exam about 75% less.)

Maintenance Care:
An Option for Continued Optimum Health
When your condition improves to the point that you are out of pain, your spine is stable, and you do not need frequent chiropractic care to keep your spine functioning normally, you will be released from care.
At that point you have two options. You can return for care as needed, if symptoms return. Or you can elect to receive maintenance care on a regular basis to prevent future problems and maintain optimum spinal health.
Maintenance
care can be
compared to
changing the
oil in your
car or going
in for regular
dental exams
and cleaning.
|
|
We will check your spine for fixations or misalignments, and make any needed adjustments. Mild misalignments are often painless, but can lead to increased difficulties if left untreated.
In the same way that a small cavity in your tooth can become larger and infect a nerve, a spinal misalignment can cause abnormal wear on the joints, and lead to arthritis, swelling, pain and nerve damage.
Maintenance care saves money by reducing the chance of severe conditions and extensive treatment later on. We typically will charge a smaller fee for maintenance visits because they do not take as much of the doctor's time as a visit with an acutely injured patient. Maintenance visits do not take as much of your time either because therapies, like ultrasound or muscle stimulation, are rarely needed in the absence of pain and swelling.
Maintenance care is not typically covered by insurance. Rarely, managed care plans have an allowance for preventative care, and some plans have a "health savings" fund that may be available for maintenance care.
Although maintenance care is generally an out of pocket expense to you, a once-per-month treatment costs less than a cable television subscription. Yet the returns in improved health and well being are immeasurably greater.
Chiropractic care is more
than just getting out of pain.

Keeping the spine functioning properly also takes stress off of the rest of the body, allowing the muscles to be more relaxed, and makes all movements more effortless and coordinated.
Most top athletes make regular chiropractic care a part of their overall fitness plan, because they know that it improves performance and helps them recover from injuries more quickly.

Should you decide that maintenance care is for you, just ask the doctor to recommend the best schedule. Most people do well on a twice-a-month schedule. Some people who have particularly stressful occupations, activities or history of joint damage or degeneration may require more frequent treatment to maintain optimum function.
Even if you choose not to follow a maintenance schedule feel free to contact the office any time if you have a return of symptoms, a new condition, or any questions about chiropractic and how it may help you or someone you know.
Also, feel free to call us occasionally just to let us know how you are getting along. We like to hear from patients who are feeling good too. It lets us know we did a good job.
Thank you for letting us serve you.
